Figures/Tableaux
The ceramic figures I make evolved from images I carved on vessels, when I removed them from their drawn environments and placed them next to each other I found unplanned narratives emerged. These chance stories join with my own experiences into semi-fictional vignettes. I often arrange landscapes of characters on stage-like platforms creating images that resonate as familiar while maintaining the inherent oddness of a dream. Finding meanings within the arrangements can provide the frustration and the satisfaction of deciphering a challenging puzzle for both myself and the viewer.
